Yoga moves to strengthen your body for birth:

1. The bridge pose

The bridge pose is ideal for strengthening your core. To safely perform the bridge pose while pregnant, carefully lie down on your side and then roll onto your back. Lie on your back is making sure that your arms are relaxed. Then move your feet closer to your body and bend your knees. Next, position your body into the bridge pose by lifting your buttocks and back off the floor. Ensure to keep your shoulders, neck, and head glued to the floor. Hold the bridge pose for a few seconds.

2. The tree pose

The tree pose, which strengthens your leg muscles as well as your core, is a simple yoga pose to master. In a standing position directly raise one leg and place the bottom of your foot on the inside of your thigh. To help you keep your balance come to your hands in front of your chest and clasp them in a praying position. Once you’re in the tree position, take a deep breathe in, before exhaling and letting the air out of your lungs.

3. Child’s pose

Child’s pose is a relaxing pose which can be completed throughout the duration of your pregnancy. To complete child’s pose only kneel on your knees and then bend your body and arms forward until your arms are stretched out in front of you, and your face and torso are horizontal to the floor. While child’s pose may not test your core muscles like the bridge pose or your balance like the tree pose, child’s pose is perfect for strengthening your body and increasing your flexibility.

4. The butterfly pose

The butterfly pose is ideal for expectant mothers as it reinforces both your inner thighs and your pelvic floor. To get into the butterfly pose position sit on a yoga mat and clasp your feet in front of you, so that the soles of your feet, touch each other. Place your hands on either side of each foot. Hold the butterfly pose for a few seconds before unclasping your feet and stretching your legs out in front of you.

5 Things I Love The Most About Being Pregnant

“It’s about the journey, not the destination!”

I have heard that line so many times in the past few weeks I think I’m going to barf from that instead of morning sickness. Even so, I have to admit that it’s just a little bit right.

Your baby will be in your belly for 40 weeks. At the end of that time is an excruciating torture of contractions and “do your breathing, hun!” that I would not wish upon my worst enemy, and at the beginning is…well, I think you all know what started this off.

I am aware of the times where I grumble to myself about what my body is going through. My everything aches all the time; my stomach feels like it’s trying to crawl up out of my throat, and my feet look like they’re trying to hoist Dorothy and the Wizard up into the air and back to Kansas!

Despite all this, there are a few things that I will say I’m going to miss when my little bundle of joy is cradled in my arms.

1. Universal Politeness

Never in all my life have I had so many people stop to hold the door for me. Wherever I go, people take a glance at my belly, smile their brightest into my face, and pull the door open for me as if I’m the President of the United States.

2. People at Work

As well, people at work are much more gracious nowadays. They save me all the best doughnuts; they make sure to keep a cup of coffee or tea warm for me when they make some, and I’ve even had a few instances when someone’s offered to take the last of my paperwork off my hands for the night!

3. People ABOUT Work

Speaking of work, nobody bats an eye when I ask for a break every day to get an extra-large ice cream. I get an affirmative, somebody rushing to cover me until I get back, and a few jokes called out about pickles or sardines on top.

4. The People on the Street

There’s an incredible sense of comradery that steals into you as soon as you begin to show. As soon as I had even the slightest bit of a baby bump, any woman I passed on the street that was either pregnant or pushing a newborn in a stroller would meet my eyes and give me a conspiratorial little smile. It felt as if I was part of a secret club nobody else could know about!

5. The Clothing

Real talk?

Maternity clothes are the most comfortable, most stylish things I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. Nobody cared that they didn’t highlight any of my curves, or that one thing was bigger than the other, because the biggest and best one was the only curve that mattered, and it was always front-and-center!

I received a pile of them thrown in from all directions, older women in my family and friend group advising me on the best and worst times to wear each piece. They also encouraged me to buy a pair of shoes about a size up from my regular ones because, and I quote, “They’re going to swell like water balloons.”

Enjoy It

Between all the cramps, aches, late night and early morning sessions in front of the toilet, odd cravings, and hormonal mood swings don’t forget to enjoy the perks of having a new life growing inside of you. Read this Pregnancy Approach review if your friend(s) is struggling to conceive naturally. It works.

40 weeks passes like a finger snap, and then…well, you’ll see.
